FAQ’s - All you need to know
Quick answers to help you get the most out of your personalization plugin
How do I get started, I’ve never sold customized/personalized products before?
You’re not alone — many brands are taking their first steps into personalization right now. We’ve created a detailed “Get Started” guide right here on the site to walk you through it. It covers everything from choosing the right products and techniques, to working with your manufacturer, to telling the story and setting pricing. Think of it as your personal roadmap — practical, inspiring, and written for brands of all sizes. Start there, and take it one step at a time.
What are best practice pricing strategies for personalised products?
A common strategy is to apply a premium markup for personalization — often between 10%–30% — depending on the complexity and exclusivity of the technique (e.g., embroidery vs. monogramming). Some brands also use personalization as a loyalty driver, offering it free above certain cart values. The key is to reflect the perceived value of uniqueness and craftsmanship while ensuring your margin covers any added production costs.
How should I price my products in Bespo?
Bespo gives you full control over how you price personalization. You can choose to apply a fixed added price for any personalized product, or create a more detailed pricing logic where specific options — such as font choice, color, embroidery style, or monogram type — carry different costs. This allows you to align pricing with your production costs and customer expectations, whether you’re offering something simple or highly premium.
How do I find the right manufacturer?
Look for manufacturers that already offer or are open to made-to-order production and that have experience with your chosen personalization techniques (embroidery, print, engraving, etc.). Ideally, they should already serve brands with similar quality expectations. Start by asking your current partners if they can accommodate small-batch customization — or explore dedicated personalization specialists through sourcing networks or trade fairs.
How do I coordinate this with my manufacturer?
Start by aligning on the personalization options you plan to offer — including techniques, areas, fonts, colors, and production lead times. Make sure your manufacturer can receive and interpret order data with personalization details clearly attached. If needed, export test orders from Bespo to simulate the flow. A shared visual reference (like the preview seen by the customer) is also helpful for reducing errors and aligning on quality expectations.
Can I upload my own fonts?
Coming soon for textile printing, yes! For embroidery and monogramming, Bespo provides a curated selection of fonts designed to work reliably. These fonts are tested for clarity, style, and compatibility with production - and more will be added over time.
What is Pantone?
Pantone is a standardized color matching system used across fashion, printing, and product design. Each Pantone color has a unique code, ensuring that manufacturers and designers around the world can communicate color choices precisely — regardless of screen or material. Many brands use Pantone to maintain consistency across digital previews and physical production, especially for embroidery threads, prints, and dyed materials.
What’s included in the printing instructions to the manufacturer?
Each Shopify order placed through Bespo gets the following attached:1x PDF listing the customer’s personalization details (SKU, printing technique, personalisation text, font, color, pattern (if it’s embroidery))1x JPG of the exact preview the customer experienced and therefore also their expectations of how it will look.1x vector SVG file for the printing process.
However, it’s essential that you agree in advance with your manufacturer on the precise production specifications. For example, on a t-shirt, you should define clear placement guidelines (e.g. 40mm below the collar) and decide how the design should scale across different sizes — since the preview is based on a single product image (often size S), but customers may order larger sizes like XL. Bespo gives you the visualization; your production partner ensures consistency. Clear alignment up front helps avoid surprises later.

Which type of products are suited for personalization?
Products with a clear, visible area that supports customization are ideal — such as tote bags, apparel, caps, towels, leather goods, and accessories. Fabrics like cotton, canvas, and leather work well for embroidery or monograms, while smoother surfaces suit printing or engraving. The key is choosing items where personalization adds perceived value and doesn’t compromise durability or production workflow.
How do I as a store owner test the customer experience before going live in my store?
You can fully test the customer experience using Shopify’s preview and draft tools. Once you’ve set up a product with Bespo personalization, preview it from your storefront just like a customer would — try different options, view the live preview, and place a test order using Shopify’s built-in test payment method. This allows you to check the full flow: personalization choices, order data, and the generated preview image. We recommend doing this before going live to make sure everything looks and works exactly as intended.
How do I test with my manufacturer before going live in my store?
Before launching, use Bespo to configure a few sample products and place internal test orders with personalization details. Share the order output and preview visuals with your manufacturer to ensure they can accurately produce the customized result. It’s best to produce physical samples to verify quality, alignment, and technique — especially for embroidery or print. This testing phase helps confirm readiness across systems and ensures a seamless customer experience.
Should I update my Term of Service or Privacy statement?
In most cases, no major updates are required. Bespo does not collect or store customer personal data separately — all personalization details (like names or initials) are processed within Shopify’s order data. Bespo also generates a preview image of the personalized product — exactly as seen by the customer — which you can share with your team or manufacturer to guide production. We do recommend updating your Terms of Service to include two key points:
1. Personalized products are typically non-returnable.
2. You reserve the right to reject any personalization that contains inappropriate, offensive, or infringing content. This protects your brand from misuse of the tool. And for legal peace of mind, consider reviewing these updates with your legal advisor.

Does it work on mobile?
Yes — the customer-facing experience works seamlessly on mobile, just like the rest of your Shopify store. Shoppers can personalize products and preview them in real time on any device. The Bespo admin configurator, however, is currently optimized for desktop use. For the best setup experience, we recommend using a laptop or desktop when configuring your products.
How do I track orders?
All orders placed through Bespo are processed and tracked directly in Shopify. The personalization details — such as text, font, color, and technique — are included in the Shopify order data and can be viewed there. Bespo does not currently provide a separate order management interface, so we recommend using Shopify’s native tools to tag or filter personalized orders for easier production handoff and tracking.
How do I track sales?
All personalized orders placed through Bespo are processed directly in your Shopify store, just like any other product. You can track them using your existing Shopify analytics and order management tools. Each order includes the customer’s personalization choices (like text, font, color, and technique), so you can analyze trends over time — such as most popular options or high-performing SKUs. If you want deeper insights, consider tagging your personalized products or variants in Shopify to filter and compare performance easily.
How do I manage complaints?
The best way to reduce complaints is to set clear expectations. Use Bespo’s live preview to show customers exactly how their personalization will appear — and consider adding a photo of a real, personalized sample to the product image gallery in Shopify. This helps customers visualize the final result and reduces surprises. Clearly state your returns policy for customized items, as many are non-returnable. If a complaint does occur, respond promptly and gather details (photos, order info) to assess the issue. Loop in your manufacturer if it’s a production error. In some cases, offering a replacement or partial refund can turn a complaint into a loyalty moment.
What are best practices for textile printing?
Start with clean, bold designs that print well on fabric — avoid overly intricate details or thin lines. Bespo allows you to define the exact print area on each product and select which Pantone colors your customers can choose from. While you can’t upload your own fonts yet, Bespo offers a curated set of fonts designed to work reliably across printing methods. For best results, use stable fabrics like cotton or cotton blends, and always test physical samples with your manufacturer to ensure color fidelity, alignment, and durability.
What are best practices for monogram printing?
With Bespo, you can choose from a curated range of monogram styles — from classic to contemporary — and more will be added over time. When setting up monograms, pick a style that complements your product and brand aesthetic. Keep placement intentional (e.g. chest, cuff, corner), and limit color options to those that ensure good contrast and legibility. Since Bespo’s monogram styles are pre-designed, you don’t need to worry about custom uploads — just select what fits best, test with your manufacturer, and launch with confidence.
What are best practices for embroidery printing?
Embroidery works best on durable, tightly woven fabrics like cotton, canvas, denim, and fleece. Keep the design relatively simple with initials or short words — and avoid ultra-thin lines or small text. Use contrasting thread colors for clarity, and test different stitch types (like satin or chain stitch) to match your brand’s aesthetic. Always create a physical sample before going live to check placement, readability, and texture. And work closely with your manufacturer — their embroidery machine specs can influence what’s possible.
What are the differences between RGB, CMYK, HEX and PANTONE colors?
These are all color systems, but used in different contexts:
1. RGB (Red, Green, Blue): Used for digital screens. Colors are created by blending light. Best for websites and anything viewed on a monitor.
2. CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black): Used for printing. Colors are made by layering ink. Good for traditional print production like brochures or packaging.
3. HEX: A way to express RGB values in web code (e.g., #FF0000 = red). Used in web design.
4. Pantone (PMS): A standardized system for matching colors in physical production. Pantone colors are defined by physical ink formulas and are widely used in fashion, textiles, embroidery, and packaging to ensure exact color consistency.\n\nBespo supports Pantone codes for personalization color options so what customers see closely matches what gets produced.

How do I terminate my subscription?
Bespo uses Shopify’s managed billing, so your subscription is handled through your Shopify admin. To cancel, simply go to Shopify → Apps → find Bespo → click “Delete.” This will stop billing and remove the Bespo app from your store.
Keep in mind: once Bespo is uninstalled, all personalization features and live previews will no longer appear on your product pages. The products themselves will remain in your store, but without any of the Bespo personalization interface. If you plan to switch off personalization temporarily, consider hiding the products or reverting them to non-custom versions before uninstalling.

How do I get an invoice from my Bespo subscription?
All Bespo subscription payments are processed through Shopify, so your invoices are available directly in your Shopify admin. To access them, go to Settings → Billing → Bills, and you’ll find downloadable invoices for all app charges, including Bespo. If you need help understanding a charge, feel free to reach out to our support team.
Do you store any of my customers' data?
No — Bespo does not store or retain any personal data about your customers. All personalization inputs (such as names or initials) are handled entirely within your Shopify store’s order data. We don’t collect, process, or transmit any customer-identifiable information outside of Shopify. This approach helps you stay aligned with privacy best practices and keeps full control of customer data within your existing Shopify ecosystem.
Which e-commerce platforms do you support?
Bespo is built exclusively for Shopify. Our app integrates directly with your Shopify store, using Shopify’s native product data, cart, checkout, and billing systems. At this time, we do not support other e-commerce platforms. If you’re not on Shopify yet, we recommend exploring it — especially if you’re looking for a robust platform that pairs well with high-quality personalization.
Can I use Bespo for embossment/debossment?
Coming soon! Right now, Bespo currently supports embroidery, monogram printing, and textile printing. However, support for embossing and debossing is on our roadmap. If you’re interested in these techniques, we’d love to hear from you — it helps us shape future updates. In the meantime, some brands simulate these effects by using tonal monograms or stitched styles to evoke a similar look.
Can I use Bespo for engraving?
Stay tuned! Engraving is not yet supported in the current version of Bespo, but it’s on our roadmap. If engraving is important to your product offering, feel free to let us know — your input helps us prioritize future features. In the meantime, Bespo is fully equipped for embroidery, textile printing, and monogramming, with high-quality previews tailored for those techniques.
How do I ensure that a customer doesn’t write inappropriate words?
At this stage, Bespo does not include automated filtering for inappropriate or offensive text. We recommend adding a line in your store’s Terms of Service stating that you reserve the right to reject personalization requests that contain inappropriate, offensive, or infringing content. You’ll be able to review the personalization details in each Shopify order — and if needed, contact the customer to resolve or cancel the order. We’re actively exploring text moderation features for future releases.
Do I need any design skills to use the customization tool?
Not at all. Bespo is built to be simple and visual — no design background needed. You choose from pre-curated fonts, monogram styles, and color options, and define where personalization appears on each product using a point-and-click interface. It’s as easy as placing a label on a photo. If you can drag, drop, and click, you can set up beautiful personalization experiences with Bespo.
